Asking his partymen to pledge for ‘UP mein Congress ki sarkar’ in 2017 and setting a target of 250 seats, AICC General Secretary Madhusudan Mistry on Wednesday targeted the Samajwadi Party government on law and order, citing recent cases of loot and kidnapping. Mistry was speaking at the party headquarters while launching a WhatsApp number of the party — 9918952017 — for the Assembly elections. He asked workers to use the number not only to expose the government but also to inform people about the activities of party leaders and candidates. “Use this number to spread information that are authentic. We hope to get information from the ground, whether a candidate is campaigning or just sitting in his house,” he said. Asking party workers to expose the UP government, he said, “No one can imagine incidents of loot or kidnapping the way they are happening here.” Mistry reminded workers that the Congress was formed to fight for injustice, and there was no better way to do so than by being part of the government. He also told party workers that the number of public meetings does not matter as much as the number of seats won. He set a target of at least 250 seats, saying, “Your focus should be to ensure that there is a Congress government in the state in 2017.” Mistry and state party president Nirmal Khatri warned party workers to be cautious about the content they upload on social media. Meanwhile, Congress MLA from Banda Vivek Singh has written to party vice-president Rahul Gandhi raising nine issues and asked him to remind the Prime Minister and Union minister Uma Bharti of the promises made during the elections.
