CM Yogi Adityanath orders probe against 5 ADMs, 3 SDMs for ‘laxity’ in disaster relief

Strict action is being taken against officials found negligent in the discharge of their duties, it was said.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday ordered a probe into the role of five additional district magistrates (ADMs) and three sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) for negligence in flood related works, officials said.

The CM also suspended the disaster expert in Kanpur Dehat district, Ashwini Kumar, for laxity in flood relief, it is learnt.

Those facing probe are additional district magistrates (finance & revenue) Santosh Singh (Banda), Umesh Chandra Nigam (Chitrakoot), Uma Shankar (Siddharthnagar), S Sudhakaran (Sultanpur), and Gajendra Kumar (Muzaffarnagar). The three SDMs are Lalit Kumar Mishra (Siddharthnagar Sadar tehsil), Sanjay Kumar Singh (Hathras’ Shadabad tehsil), and Anil Kumar Katiyar (Aligarh’s Atrauli tehsil).

The Chief Minister has issued a directive to these officers, asking them to submit their clarifications to the government within two days. The failure to provide satisfactory response may result in a stringent action, those familiar with the development said.

State Relief Commissioner GS Naveen said that following the CM’s directives, compensation for disaster-related deaths is being provided within 24 hours across the state after completing the surveys.
