The BSP on Sunday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for his reported remark that “those unhappy with the deteriorated law and order in UP should leave the state”.

Reacting to BSP chief Mayawati’s demand of imposing President’s rule in UP because of the deteriorating law and order situation,Akhilesh on Saturday reportedly said that if one feels unsafe in the state because of the law and order situation, one should not visit here.

Talking to reporters,BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Misra today said the CM’s remarks were “shameful” and he should tender his resignation if he cannot hear “the truth about the law and order situation in the state”.

He said the BSP would continue levelling this allegation and Akhilesh should work on improving the law and order situation if he does not want to face criticism.

Misra alleged that law and order was disturbed as the SP government either transferred or suspended every officer who acted against goons and mafia. He said an example of this was the “suspension of Noida subdivisional magistrate Durga Nagpal”. He said while the IAS officer “had acted against those indulging in illegal mining in Noida”,“this is the reward the chief minister has given her for her honesty”.

Similarly,a police officer who acted against a person accused of illegal trafficking of cows was transferred from Gonda, and the accused was given the rank of minister of state in the government,Misra said.

SP hardcore casteist: Mayawati

In a statement, former president Mayawati termed the SP “hardcore casteist” and “having polluted mindset”,referring to Akhilesh’s remark that the BSP’s Bhaichara rallies spread casteism and the construction of parks and memorials during her government was wastage of public money.

She said these parks, built in the name of Dalit and OBC leaders, were for the public and “very popular among people”. The former CM said the memorials are the “sites of faith” for downtrodden communities. The sale of entry tickets generates revenue for the government and it is wrong to say that the construction of parks and memorials was wastage of public money, she added.

She said the SP government was trying to take credit for various development works like construction of medical colleges and hospitals done by her government. The SP government was also making “a foolish attempt” to showcase the Yamuna Expressway from Delhi to Agra as its achievment just because it had inaugurated the road, she said.
