The Election Commission on Friday announced the by-election to the Handia Assembly constituency in Allahabad district. The seat fell vacant after the death of SP MLA Mahesh Narain Singh this February. The notification for the poll will be issued on May 8. The last date of filling nomination is May 15,scrutiny will be held on May 16 and withdrawals will be allowed till May 18. Polling will be on June 2 and the counting of votes will be held on June 5.

Include Kol caste in ST list: CM writes to PM

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav,in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,has requested for taking appropriate action for the inclusion of Kol caste in Uttar Pradesh in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list. Presently,Kols are in the SC list in the state.

Noida,Gr Noida CEO made chairman too

The state government on Friday evening gave charge of chairman of three industrial development authorities Noida,Greater Noida and Yamuna Expresway Industrial Development Authority to senior IAS officer Rama Raman. Raman was already holding the charge of CEO of Noida and Greater Noida.

CM orders probe against builders

Following an Income Tax Department report,CM Akhilesh Yadav has ordered vigilance inquiry against Kasana Builders,Noida,who are charged with giving bribe to officials of Ghaziabad Development Authority,Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority and Rajkiya Nirman Nigam.
