Will give chargesheet based on findings to President on June 12

Launching a major attack against the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party released a 400-page book titled Mayawati Sarkar ke 100 Ghotale – Scams in Uttar Pradesh in Lucknow on Thursday.

The book was released by the party’s national general secretary Kirit Somaiya, who claimed that the Mayawati government has committed scams of over Rs 2.54 lakh crore, which is much higher than the UPA scams like 2G spectrum and Commonwealth Games. He said that the BJP has compiled detailed information on 100 scams, and every 10 days the party will be making details of a major scam public. The party will also present a chargesheet based on these findings to President Pratibha Patil on June 12.

“These are not just baseless statistics, but data which we have compiled after an exhaustive exercise. In most of the cases, our leaders and workers have done field work to get the details, and in some, even the officials came to us with the details,” Somaiya said, adding that “some of these cases have also been mentioned in the CAG reports. We have documentary evidences to all these scams.”

He was supported by leaders like national secretary and former Bareilly MP Santosh Gangwar,Om Prakash Singh and Nagendra Nath Pandey. The UP state president Surya Pratap Shahi was also present.

Alleging that the Mayawati government has made every welfare scheme a source to get money,Somaiya said that the BSP uses government resources as an ATM machine. “Funds worth crores are released for the poor, but they are all used for filling the pockets of BSP men or for construction of memorials,” said Somaiyya.

Some of the schemes included in the compilation of scams are old age pension,National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme with focus on Bundelkhand, scholarships for poor and Dalit students, laying of sewerage pipelines, sale of sugarcane, sale of sugar mills, electrification of rural schools, solar energy distribution and providing land to Jaypee for Karchhana power project.
