A police team reached the spot and fire tenders were also called in. (Representational Image) A 37-year-old engineer died in a blast that took place at a sugar mill in the Pura Kalandar area of Ayodhya on Monday afternoon. Vipin Kumar Singh, the deceased, hailed from Varanasi.
The blast took place in the boiler of the sugar mills when a team of technical team was checking a fault in a portion of the sugar mill.“Vipin Kumar Singh was checking the fault when the blast took place in a boiler,” said Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Ayodhya) Manoj Srivastava. “The sugar mill has now been closed and the management team is trying to resolve the fault,” he added.
According to police, at around 3 pm on Monday, they received information about a blast at the sugar mill located in the Mausadha area. A police team reached the spot and fire tenders were also called in. Vipin Kumar, who was injured in the blast, was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
“The fire was huge and it spread to other portions of the mill and the workers were immediately evacuated. It took over an hour for the fire tenders to douse the flame,” said an official.
Virendra Kumar Pal, the station officer of Pura Kalandar Police Station, said that except for Vipin Singh no other staff of the sugar mill were injured in the fire.
The management and the staff of the sugar mill staff could not be contacted for comment.
So far, no FIR has been registered.
