Under its Information and Communication campaign,the UP Jal Nigam in association with private operators will make people aware of solid waste management project and hazards of unscientific disposal of garbage.
The programme will be conducted in those towns where solid waste management project is under implementation. The towns selected for the programme include Kanpur,Agra,Allahabad,Mathura,Varanasi,Aligarh and Jhansi.
Under this programme,people will be made aware of positive impact of solid waste management on environment and the health hazards caused by unscientific disposal of waste, said R K Gaur,Technical Adviser,Construction and Design Services,UP Jal Nigam.
Officials said the Information and Communication programme will be launched from Kanpur where door-to-door collection of solid waste,its processing and disposal at landfill site have already begun.
Literature on importance of solid waste management and hazards of unscientific disposal of waste will be distributed among students in schools and colleges. Street plays will be organised and display boards will be erected in parks to appeal to people to not to throw garbage on roads, said Rajnish Mehra,Joint Managing Director,A2Z Infrastructure. Besides Kanpur,A2Z Infrastructure will also implement solid waste management project in Moradabad,Aligarh,Meerut and Varanasi. Jyoti Enviro-Tech Private Limited has been chosen for Lucknow. While Subhash Projects and Marketing has been chosen for Mathura and Allahabad,PAT Projects will carry out the work in Gorakhpur and Jhansi.
