Chief Minister Mayawati met senior party functionaries at her Lucknow residence on Wednesday.

Chief Minister Mayawati met senior party functionaries at her Lucknow residence on Wednesday.

According to sources,Mayawati mainly focussed on the forthcoming Assembly elections in Haryana and Mahasrashtra and separately met party functionaries from these two states.

She will again hold a meting with party MLAs,MPs,ministers and senior functionaries on Thursday. Other than elections in Maharashtra and Haryana, she is also keen on discussing byelections to the 12 Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh.

The BSP has already entered into an alliance with former Haryana chief minister Bhajan Lal for contesting the elections. “It is one state where the party hopes to perform well,” said a source.

In Maharashtra,Mayawati’s main concern is Mumbai,Thane and Vidarbha areas. “In this part of Maharashtra, there are 120 seats. While in Vidarbha we are in position to win a few seats, the party would be in position to damage the prospect of the Congress in Thane and Mumbai,” he added.

Mayawati also plans to engage senior party leaders for better performance in Maharashtra and Haryana. “She would task a few leaders to guide her teams in both the states,” the source said.

Meanwhile,Mayawati held a meeting with the senior officials, including police officers, and reviewed the law and order situation in the state. She directed the officials to keep a close vigil on the anti-social elements in view of the upcoming festival season.
