After asking the partys UP leaders to spend at least 20 days in a month in the field,BJP national general secretary in-charge of UP Amit Shah has deferred his own 12-day tour that was to begin Friday. Shah will now reach Lucknow on June 26 for less than 12 days with national president Rajnath Singh to launch partys Jail Bharo Andolan in the state.
In Shahs absence,UPs co-in-charge Rameshwar Chaurasiya is reaching Lucknow on Friday to hold a meeting in Awadh region. Another co-incharge Satyendra Kushwaha today started a tour of Jhansi. He will hold a meeting in Kanpur on Friday. Following Shahs directives,some other state leaders have started tours in various districts.
In his first three-day visit to UP last week,Shah had said he will himself stay in the state for at least 20 days every month. He had said his next visit will be on June 21 for 12 days when he will hold meetings with the presidents of Awadh region and its 14 districts.
The meetings were supposed to discuss the partys campaign,organisational set-up,upcoming party events and discussions over the possible candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. He had also planned meetings with office-bearers of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
The programme of June 21 visit has been cancelled. I will reach Lucknow June 26 to take part in Jail Bharo Andolan, Shah told The Indian Express over the phone.
In the Jail Bharo Andolan that is beginning in UP on June 26,Rajnath Singh,senior leaders Vinay Katiyar,Lalji Tandon,state president Laxmikant Bajpai,former state presidents Om Prakash Singh and Surya Pratap Shahi will also court arrest in Lucknow.
Sources said Shah has deferred his Friday tour as party leaders and workers are busy in the preparation of Jail Bharo Andolan.
