As many as 11 decomposed bodies have been recovered from Ganga river in Bijnor and Bulandshahr districts and from Sharda river in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh since Friday.
The bodies appear to have come from flood-affected areas of Uttarakhand and have not yet been identified,said Bulandshahr police spokesperson Yatindra Kumar.
He said the bodies have been preserved and photographs are being publicised. He said the police will also take DNA samples of the bodies for future identification.
The police said three bodies were recovered from Ganga river in Ramghat police station area in Bulandshahr district on Monday. One body is of a man,another of a woman and the third of a child.
Three bodies of a man,woman,and a child were recovered from Ganga river in Naraura area of the district on Saturday,said Kumar.
Two bodies were recovered from Nagal police station area of Bijnor district on Saturday. Bijnor Superintendent of Police Rajesh Krishna said the bodies have been preserved and their DNA samples will also be taken. .
Krishna said as the bodies are badly decomposed,it would not be possible to identify them with their photos.
He said while they have been photographed,they have also preserved pieces of clothes found on the bodies for help in identification.
According to the police,three bodies were found floating in Sharda river,which comes from Uttarakhand,in Madhotanda area of Pilibhit on Friday.
A police official said the bodies have not been identified and have been preserved.
