TMC MLA’s wife shot at, nephew on the run

Usha Singh who sustained bullet injury in her stomach and was found injured at the parking lot of their residence at Ghoshpara Road, is undergoing treatment at Medica Super Specialty Hospital in EM Bypass, where doctors said an operation will be conducted on her.

Her husband, TMC MLA from Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas, who is abroad, told a private news channel that the attack was a result of family feud over a property.

Later the couple’s son Pawan lodged an FIR at Jagaddal police station saying his cousin Sourav Singh had suddenly entered his mother’s room and fired at her.

An attempt to murder case has been registered against Saurav who, according to the police, is currently absconding.

A team of police officials from Barrackpore Commissionerate will soon visit the hospital to record Usha’s statement,
officials said.
