TMC leader shot dead in Birbhum, 3rd ruling party member murdered in Bengal in last 3 days
TMC woman worker Moushumi Mal, along with two other people, has been detained for questioning.

A local leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) was shot dead on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday in the Sainthia police station area of Birbhum district, marking the third murder of a ruling party functionary in Bengal within three days.
The victim, Piyush Ghosh, 42, was the panchayat president of Srinidhipur and also the agricultural treasurer of the local panchayat samiti. He was found dead approximately 500 metres from his home in Komarpur village, Srinidhipur, at 2 am on Sunday.
The family members of the victim claimed that Ghosh received a call around 11 pm on Saturday and left the house on his bike. The police indicated that he was shot in the back of the head, with the bullet exiting from the front.
Local sources described Ghosh as an influential figure in the area, whose political importance grew alongside his sand business.
The police have detained two women and a man in connection with the murder. Among those detained is TMC worker Moushumi Mal, who lives near the crime scene.
This incident follows two other high-profile murders of TMC leaders. On Thursday night, Razzak Khan, 38, a TMC block president and close associate of Canning East MLA Shaukat Molla, was murdered in Bhangar under the South 24 Parganas. The next day, on Friday, TMC leader Abul Kalam Azad was murdered allegedly by a political associate in the English Bazar police station area of Malda district.
