Srinivasan to remain India’s man in International Cricket Council

NOTWITHSTANDING his decision to “step aside” and not discharge his duties as the BCCI president till the internal probe into the spot-fixing controversy is over,N Srinivasan will continue to represent India in the ICC. However,he will not attend the BCCI working committee meetings till the interim arrangement is on.

“Yes,Srinivasan will continue to be India’s representative in the ICC because he is the president. He has decided to step aside temporarily but hasn’t quit the post. As far as the working committee meetings are concerned,he will not attend these till the probe is over. Jagmohan Dalmiya will preside over all board affairs during this period,and his decisions will be ratified by the working committee,” Mumbai Cricket Association president Ravi Savant told The Indian Express.

However,BCCI vice-president Arun Jaitley chose to be tight-lipped on the issue. “Dalmiya and the working committee will decide that. All decisions regarding the BCCI will be decided by the working committee. This was an express decision by the BCCI today,” Jaitley told a TV news channel.

Ajay Shirke,who resigned as BCCI treasurer on Friday,questioned the arrangement. “On the interim arrangement,in my pedestrian legal understanding of the law,the interim set-up that has been constituted does not fall within the four walls of the BCCI constitution. I,as a former BCCI administrator,think this interim arrangement does not hold legal sanction.” he said.
