New rural bodies set to take charge from August 16

With the completion of rural elections in the state,the newly constituted boards of the panchayat bodies are set to take over responsibility from August 16.

With the completion of rural elections in the state,the newly constituted boards of the panchayat bodies are set to take over responsibility from August 16.

Notification on it would be issued accordingly,state Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee said here Thursday.

Mukherjee said he would meet all district magistrates and additional district magistrates on August 12 in the city to tell them on government’s focus on various ongoing and new projects and how they could be expedited in an effective manner maintaining total transparancy.

“Many projects came to a halt because of rural poll process in state. Now steps are being taken to gear up all these pending projects to complete them expeditiously,” he said.

The panchayat department would organise training for the elected members in the three-tier rural bodies with the training for Zilla Parishad members at the State Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development,Kalyani,in Nadia district.
