On the eve of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjees much talked visit of Jhargram in the Maoist-affected Junglemahal,a tug of war between the Trinamool and ultras has begun over who yields public power in the area.
With the chief minister making it clear to her partymen that Saturdays public meeting in Jhargram will be a show of strength in the wake of growing attack on Trinamool cadres by the ultras,the Maoists,on the other hand,have announced to mark tomorrow Black Day to highlight the new governments failure to keep its promises.
On the surface,Trinamool leaders may be brushing aside any reason to bother about the Maoists,but within the party there is a growing concern as the ultras have been visiting every village and telling people not to attend the rally. Amid this,a dramatic resignation of five Trinamool workers who announced their decision to quit from the party through posters that were pasted on the walls in the villages.
All the five belong to Andharia gram panchayat in Jhargram. Posters were pasted on the houses in the villages announcing that Bijay Krishna Baul,Narasingha Rath,Seikh Insaan Ali,Babloo Karak and Sheikh Zakir have resigned from trinamool as party ministers could not fulfill their pre-election promises.
We have left the party and we have urged the people to quit the party. All the promises made by Mamata Banerjee have fallen flat. We are not able to face the questions raised by the villagers and that is why we have left the party, said Bijay Krishna Baul.
But Pradyut Ghosh,working president of Trinamool termed it not a big issue. They have done this under the Maoist threat. But they are still with us, he added.
