Joyous Opposition calls it lesson for Trinamool

The Opposition rejoiced at the Supreme Court ruling saying it has foiled the ruling Trinamool Congress’ bid to disrupt the polls.

“Hopefully the state government will now learn its lessons and strive to perform its constitutional obligation to conduct the panchayat polls. We sincerely hope the stakeholders now will arrive at unanimity and conduct the elections,” said CPM leader Suryakanta Mishra.

Describing the apex court’s order as “historic”,state Congress president Pradip Bhattacharya said: “The verdict has come as a warning to the state government which was desperate to disrupt the polls. Justice has prevailed.” “It will help strengthen the democratic system and make it healthy and powerful,” he added.
