Joka to come under KMC in 2 months: Mayor

Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee on Friday held a meeting with Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee on inclusion of areas under the Joka gram panchayat under the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC). The areas under the Joka I and Joka II panchayats on the south western fringes of the city would come under the KMC in two months’ time,the Mayor said.

The modalities for the inclusion of the two panchayats under the KMC would be worked out and the areas would become ward numbers 142,143 and 144 of the KMC,Chatterjee said.

At present,KMC has 141 wards.
