Abhishek Banerjee dares BJP to arrest him: ‘Will rather be a tiger, than a pet dog of Delhi’

Abhishek has been questioned several times by the CBI and ED in Delhi as well as in Kolkata in connection with corruption and money laundering cases.

Targeting Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari, who was earlier with the TMC, Abhishek said, “While we have removed corrupt leaders from our party, the BJP has given plum positions to these corrupt men. Generally, thieves go to jail but here in Bengal, they join the BJP.” He also called Adhikari “Bengal’s traitor Mir Jafar”.

Slamming Adhikari for not taking his name directly and instead calling him bhaipo (nephew) — Abhishek is Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew – he said: “I want to ask him, why is he so afraid? He takes my name more than his parents. He lacks the courage to address me directly, and instead keeps referring to me as ‘bhaipo’. I wish to remind the traitor that Modi ji, Amit ji, Yogi ji, or ED ji and CBI ji are not the final authority. The final authority is the common man of our country,” Abhishek added.

“Medinipur has a glorious history of individuals who fought for India’s Independence… During the 2021 Assembly elections, there was an attempt by a certain ‘Mir Jafar’, who tried to project that our party would be completely defeated. However, we ended up winning 24 of the 35 Assembly Constituencies in the districts of Purba and Paschim Medinipur, as well as Jhargram. People showed him the reality, and voted for Trinamool in 9 of the 16 Assembly seats in the district,” he said.

Speaking about party chief Mamata Banerjee’s defeat from Nandigram seat, where she was contesting against Suvendu Adhikari, Abhishek said: “Everyone is aware of the entire load-shedding (power cut) incident that took place on the counting day. In Nandigram, people’s mandate was manipulated…”
