Amid re-examination and tough question papers in the state,girls have once again outperformed boys in this years ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) examinations,the results for which were announced today.
It may be noted that Geography re-test for ICSE students was conducted by Modern High School and Frank Antony High School while Bengali test for the ISC students has been conducted at a school in Howrah.
Nidhi Chandak of Maheswari Girls High School became the all-India second topper from the state in the ICSE examination,scoring 98.6 per cent. Heritage Schools Ritika Singhania,who has scored 98.40 per cent in the ICSE examination,has stood third.
Rhine Samaddar of Calcutta Boys School is all-India third topper of the ISC examination,scoring 99 per cent.
Gerry Aratoon,chief executive and secretary of CISCE,said the overall performance of West Bengal in ICSE was better than the ISC examination.
This year,25,665 candidates took the in ICSE from the state and 98.62 per cent students passed. A total of 17,996 candidates appeared in ISC with 97.70 percent clearing the examination. The pass percentage in ISC has dropped by 0.02 percent from last year.
