Pointing at the ever-present alliance between the UPA and ruling party in West Bengal,BJP general secretary Amit Shah urged voters during a rally here not to vote in favour of either the Trinamool Congress or CPM,as votes to any of them would mean an indirect support to UPA.
Forgive me for saying so but both the governments of UPA have had support of political parties from Bengal. So,this time people should refrain from voting for TMC and CPM as these parties will support UPA, Shah said while addressing a Janjagaran Sabha of the BJP.
He asked the gathering if it believed CPM or TMC could form a government at the Centre.
Shahs visit to Bengal, say the political observers,is a trial run for BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modis upcoming meeting in the city, which is likely to be held in February.
Describing the Congress-led UPA as the most corrupt government since Independence,Shah said the hallmark of the UPAs regime has been rampant corruption and price rise.
They say the fight is between Congress and the BJP but where is their leader?.. We have declared our leader while it (Congress) is yet to announce its PM candidate, he said.
Shah said if his party formed the next government at the Centre it would give due right to the people of West Bengal.
If BJP forms the next government at the Centre,it will give Bengal its due right for development of the state, Shah said. We dont believe in alms. We believe in equal rights and equal development. Bengal has moved backward due to the misrule of the Left, he said.
When asked whether the BJP would try to forge an alliance with the TMC,its erstwhile ally,BJP leader Siddhianath Singh said it had to decide on two matters, first being adoption of the development policies of Narendra Modi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Secondly,Mamata has to shun appeasement and vote bank politics. Let her think about it and answer, Singh said. He also criticised the Trinamool Congress regime for being indifferent to the chit fund business in the state.
They are giving excuses that the chit fund business thrived during the Left regime. Yes it is true. But why didnt you take any action against them after coming to power. It has to be answered, Singh said.
