Terming Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, whom the BJP is projecting as its prime ministerial candidate for the Lok Sabha elections,as notorious,CPM politburo member Buddhedeb Bhattacharjee the country will simpy reject him,
He was speaking at a function to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Muzaffar Ahmed, one of the founders of the Communist Party in Bengal.
Bhattacharjee also attacked the Congress, saying it was yet uncertain if it will go for Rahul Gandhi or remain happy with Manmohan Singh. He added that the prime job of the ruling party at the Centre has been to push for foreign investments and capital.
The former Bengal chief minister said the recently concluded panchayat polls have shown that the Communists have not disappeared from the contest. We are very much there, having registered our strength in districts like Nadia,Malda,Murshidabad,Jalpaiguri and North Dinajpur. The CPM has not vanished in thin air as is being claimed,he said.
While remembering Muzaffar Ahmed known in the party as Kakababu Bhattacharjee regretted that the party rectificatoin drive has not gained as much momentum as it should have been.
We have identified the malady that brought our downfall and accordingly launched the rectificatioin drive. We are committed to it. We have come to the Communist party not to make money or accummulate wealth. The party men will have to understand this. But there are still certain people whose faces people do not want to see,as they are corrupt. Our party is committed to remove those faces. That is the best way we can pay homage to our leader like Kakababu, said Bhattacharjee.
Attacking the Trinamool Congress,Bhattacharjee said: The government is being run by anti-socials.
