BJP Rahul Sinha has many qualities, party to decide how to use him, says ‘probable successor’

BJP’s national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, too, asserted in his speech that “Rahul Sinha had been leading the party for a long time”.

SENIOR BJP leader Dilip Ghosh Monday said the outgoing chief, Rahul Sinha, has “several good qualities” that can be “effectively” used by the party.
Marching along with senior state leaders, including Sinha, for the Utthan Divas rally, Ghosh claimed that the change in the party was “imminent” in light of the “change in the state’s political arena”.

“The organisation is changed every three years and Rahul Sinha had been the president for two terms which ended in September. There will be a change within the party but that doesn’t mean Sinha will have to leave. He has several good qualities. He is a good speaker. These (qualities) can be used effectively in the party, which would decide on how to properly use Sinha,” he said. In his speech, he said he would want those who have “distanced themselves from the party” to come and join the fight against the ruling party. He did not take any names, though.

A senior BJP leader, who did not wish to be named, said the party will soon have to take a call on clearing out this “confusion” over who would be the next in-charge. “There has already been so much writing that people now seem to almost believe that Ghosh will take over the charge,” the leader said. Another leader, who heads a cell of the BJP in Bengal, said: “If a change is not announced soon, this day (Utthan Divas) will turn into ‘Patan Divas’ (descent).”

Participants at the rally, which started off with Locket Chatterjee and Dilip Ghosh leading the group, stopped, returned to College Square where they had first convened and started again, this time with Vijayvargiya, Sidharth Nath Singh, Suresh Pujari, Rahul Sinha and Roopa Ganguly at the front.
