In an attempt to revamp its organisational strength in West Bengal before the crucial Assembly elections,the West Bengal Youth Congress has planned to complete its election process by the end of February this year.
According to the Youth Congress functionaries monitoring the election process,eight lakh people have filled forms to enroll themselves as members. The enrollment drive of the partys youth brigade was kickstarted by Rahul Gandhi on September 6 which continued till October 5.
Vijay Inder Singla,MP and state in-charge of the Youth Congress elections,said from January 4 to 11 the candidates can scrutinise their names in the Youth Congress member list in each constituency and from Tuesday,all the Lok Sabha Returning Officers from 42 Lok Sabha seats would go to their constituencies and the start the scrutiny.
Ten to 12 days after the scrutiny,there will be elections at the block level and by February-end the entire process of the Youth Congress elections will be completed, said Singla.
Any member who has been enrolled during the drive can contest the elections at various levels,he added.
