Bengal teacher recruitment scam: ED summons TMC youth president Saayoni Ghosh

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Trinamool Congress state youth president Saayoni Ghosh in connection with the West Bengal primary teachers recruitment case. The leader has been asked to appear before the ED at the agency’s Kolkata office Friday.

The ED, last month, had arrested Sujoy Krishna Bhadra in connection with this case. According to sources, Bhadra’s name cropped up after former TMC leader Kuntal Ghosh, who is one of the accused in the bribe-for-jobs scam, allegedly named him while being interrogated by probe agencies. Ghosh along with another TMC youth leader Shantanu Banerjee were expelled by the ruling party on Tuesday following their arrest over their alleged involvement in illegal recruitments for teaching and non-teaching posts in government schools in the state. The law enforcement agency had alleged that they were working as Bhadra’s “agents” or middlemen.

The central agency has now decided to question Saayoni Ghosh after her name too surfaced while probing Kuntal Ghosh’s involvement in the case.
