J&K: Two Army personnel killed in mine blast along LoC in Rajouri

The deceased were part of an Army patrol which was on routine patrolling near a forward location in Nowshera sector.

An Army Lieutenant and a jawan were killed in a mine blast along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s border district Rajouri on Saturday.

A Defence PRO Lt Colonel Devender Anand identified the deceased as Lt Rishi Kumar of Bihar’s Begusarai and Sepoy Manjit Singh of Sirvewala, Bhatinda in Punjab.

During an area domination patrol in Nowshera sector today, a mine blast occurred, wherein three Indian Army soldiers suffered injuries. The condition of two personnel turned critical, an official statement said. While those critically injured later succumbed, another injured soldier was evacuated and is under treatment, it added.

Lt Rishi Kumar and Sepoy Manjit were brave and extremely committed to the profession of soldiering and have made the supreme sacrifice for the nation in the line of active duty, the statement said, adding that the nation and the Indian Army shall forever remain indebted to the bravehearts for their supreme sacrifice.
