Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Wednesday invited Malaysia to invest in Jaipur Metro Phase 2 as well as the government’s affordable housing scheme.
A delegation led by Malaysian Minister of Works Haji Fadillah Bin Haji Yusof met Raje at the Chief Minister’s office here. Raje invited Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia, a statutory body working under the Ministry of Works of that country, to “invest and engage” in construction of highways and Jaipur Metro Phase 2.
The CM said that under the affordable housing scheme, the state government has set a target to construct 15 lakh houses in the next three years and invited Malaysian firms to join as partners in the scheme. She also invited them to explore the “immense” options in the tourism sector.
During an hour-long meeting with the delegation, the CM said that the state had taken up various programmes for infrastructure development and it is seeking partners on PPP basis for technical expertise and financial resources to take ahead the schemes.
An official of the Public Works Department said that proposals relating to construction of 3,500 km of highways in six packages worth Rs 8,200 crore were put forth before the CIDB, and proposals from CIDB are now awaited.
Among those present at the meet were Datuk Naimun Ashakil Bin Mohammed, ambassador of Malaysia to India, and Younus Khan, Rajasthan Minister of Public Works Department, among others.
