A 19-year-old student preparing for NEET went missing from Kota on May 6 (Monday) after sending a text message to his parents which read: “I do not want to study further and am leaving home for five years.” After the alarming message, his family rushed to Kota and informed the police on Wednesday.
The student aged 19, a resident of Gangapur city, had been preparing for NEET and was staying in Kota for the past 3 years. He had appeared for the exam two years ago also but could not clear it. He was to appear for the NEET exam on May 5 after which he talked to his family. Parents also told the police that at that time there seemed to be nothing wrong but the next day his mobile was switched off from 12:30 onwards.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Yogesh Sharma, while talking to The Indian Express said that the student had sent a text message to his parents from his mobile on May 6 which read: “I do not want to study further and am leaving home for five years. I will not take any wrong steps. No one should contact me as I will destroy my SIM and sell the mobile phone. I have eight thousand rupees. If necessary, I will contact my family and other relatives.” He also told his mother not to worry, Sharma said.
Sharma said the police have been able to gather the CCTV footage of the student traveling somewhere but were not sure about the location. Police are investigating the matter and will soon have more information, Sharma said.
