BJP MLA calls Union minister Meghwal ‘corrupt number 1’, says will write to PM to expel him
Addressing a programme at Shahpura Assembly constituency in Bhilwara, Kailash Chandra Meghwal said, “This Arjun Meghwal is corrupt number 1. He has corruption cases against him which are going on to this day."

BJP MLA and former Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Kailash Chandra Meghwal on Monday attacked Union Law minister Arjun Ram Meghwal saying that he is “corrupt number one” and that he will write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to expel him from his Cabinet.
Addressing a programme at Shahpura Assembly constituency in Bhilwara, Meghwal, 89, said, “This Arjun Meghwal is corrupt number 1. He has corruption cases against him which are going on to this day. I will write to (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi to expel him from the cabinet. I will write to him saying that the one you have made the law minister is involved in corruption. When he was an officer he did corruption of lakhs and didn’t even leave the poor and the Scheduled Castes and took money from everyone.”
Kailash Meghwal accused the Union Minister of joining politics to save himself from corruption cases. Referring to Arjun Meghwal’s earlier stint as a bureaucrat, he said, “When he was the collector he did corruption of lakhs and these cases are going on to this day.”
Later, talking to journalists, he said, “Arjun Meghwal ji is interfering in politics here. I will write to the PM saying that he should be removed as a minister till the corruption cases against him are resolved.”
Arjun Meghwal is currently the Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Culture as well as Law and Justice (Independent Charge).
Earlier this month, Arjun Meghwal was made the convenor of the 25 member Sankalp Patra or manifesto committee ahead of Rajasthan Assembly polls.
The 69-year-old is currently serving his third term as MP. He had cleared the Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) examinations in 1982 and served within various ranks in the state service, before being promoted as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. Ahead of the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, Meghwal, who has MA (Pol Science), LLB and MBA degrees, took voluntary retirement to contest from the Bikaner parliamentary constituency on a BJP ticket.
Kailash Meghwal also praised Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Assembly Speaker and former Union minister C P Joshi, saying, “I have been in politics for 60 years. I am in my sixth term as an MLA and have been an MP thrice. But you will never hear that I lied or duped anyone. When I came here I was told that when C P Joshi was a Lok Sabha member and a Union minister … It is because of C P Joshi that we are able to drink water from Chambal today. He also laid a web of roads. I say it as it is. I don’t lie. The good Ashok Gehlot has done for Shahpura, shouldn’t I praise it?”
