Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy Monday referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “bada bhai (elder brother)” while seeking support from the Centre to develop his state. Unlike former Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao, who skipped meeting Modi several times, Reddy flew to Adilabad, where the PM arrived in the morning to inaugurate several projects.

Addressing the Prime Minister in Hindi, Reddy said, “Hamare hisaab se Pradhan Mantri matlab bade bhai (According to us, Prime Minister means elder brother). Only with his help can Chief Ministers take their states forward. It is my request that if Telangana has to progress, if it has to move ahead like Gujarat, your help is required. To reach your goal of a 5 trillion dollar economy, India needs five metropolitan cities and Hyderabad wants to contribute. Please support us in the Metro rail… Just as you developed the Sabarmati river, we want to regenerate our Musi river,” he said to cheers from the audience.

Earlier, Modi, who is on a two-day tour to Adilabad and Sangareddy districts of Telangana, dedicated to the nation NTPC’s 800 MW (Unit-2) of Telangana Super Thermal Power Project in Peddapalli; electrification project of Ambari-Adilabad-Pimpalkhuti; and laid the foundation stone for railway, highway and power projects worth over Rs 7,000 crore.

He said that the huge turnout of people of Telangana was a testimony to the growing strength of BJP in the state. “The various projects launched today will ensure development of Telangana and its people,” he said. “In the last 15 days, we have inaugurated five AIIMS, two IITs, three IIMs, and 200 railway projects. This is Viksit Bharat,” he said.

Pointing out that Telangana is the land of brave tribal leaders Ramji Gond and Komaram Bheem, he said the BJP always prioritised the empowerment of tribals and the NDA government made Droupadi Murmu the President of India.

Attacking the previous Bharat Rashtra Samiti government, Modi said the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project is a mega scam committed by it. “TRS changed to BRS but their corruption and dynasty politics did not change,” he said.
