Andhra CM Jagan Mohan Reddy lays foundation stone of Vizag Tech Park
The 300-Megawatt (MW) data centre being set up by the Adani Group at Visakhapatnam would facilitate the laying of a submarine cable from Singapore and help change future dynamics of the broadband services.
Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy (File) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the Vizag Tech Park. The event was attended by Adani Group MD Rajesh Adani and CEO Karan Adani.
The 300-Megawatt (MW) data centre being set up by the Adani Group at Visakhapatnam would facilitate the laying of a submarine cable from Singapore and help change future dynamics of the broadband services such as increase in data speed and internet bandwidth, Andhra Pradesh government officials said Wednesday.
The Adani Group is setting up two data centres — one of 200 MW and the other of 100 MW — in the Rs 21,844 crore Vizag Tech Park, a subsidiary of the Adani Group. The Adani data centre would be the biggest such facility in the country and the two data centres are also unique because they will run entirely on green power.
The Chief Minister said that the establishment of the data centre would not only facilitate the laying of a submarine cable from Singapore and help change future dynamics of the broadband services but also create job opportunities and ensure development of Visakhapatnam.
The Vizag Tech Park, coming up in the 190-acre area, would consist of a 200 MW Integrated Data Centre at Madhurawada and a 100 MW Integrated Data Centre at Kapuluppada with an investment of Rs 14,634 crore and Rs 7,210 crore, respectively.
The Tech Park would provide direct employment to 39, 815 people in a phased manner over seven years and indirect employment to 10, 610 persons.
The Data Centre, consisting of IT Business parks, skill development centres and recreation facilities would boost up internet speed and improve the connectivity, the CM said, adding that it would also work as a game changer providing a major boost to the general development of the area.
The data centre would also help Visakhapatnam transform into a tier-1 city. More significantly, it runs on green power, said the Chief Minister, adding, “Its entire power needs would be met from renewable sources. The software industry would also get a big boost as it can fully capitalise on cloud services and facilitate more download speeds.”
IT Minister G Amarnath said the hyperscale data center will significantly increase data speed and internet bandwidth, thereby creating a positive environment for the growth of IT and IT-related services, creating high-tech jobs on a large scale and reducing service costs. The Skill University and Skill Centres to be set up in connection with the Data Centre will promote the development of skills among the youth and improve the lifestyle of employees through the Business Park Recreation Centres.
