50,000 cops, 5 drone teams to monitor Ganesh idol procession in Greater Hyderabad tomorrow
The number of Ganesh idols set for immersion is estimated to be over 50,000 in Hyderabad, and 12,000 and 11,000 in Cyberabad and Rachakonda police limits, respectively.

For the grand Ganesh idol procession and immersion Thursday, around 50,000 police personnel are being deployed in Greater Hyderabad under the tri-commissionerate of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda. Besides CCTV surveillance, the city police will deploy five drone teams, 3 Rapid Action Force (RAF) Coys and other paramilitary forces.

Regarding the inspection of the 19-km long route of the main procession from Balapur to Hussainsagar via Chandrayanagutta, Charminar, Nayapul, MJ Market, Telugu Talli Flyover, Secretariat and People’s Plaza, Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand said multiple Quick Response Teams, dog squads, and anti-chain snatching teams, SHE teams will also be deployed. Senior officers from all departments like GHMC, HMDA, Transco, HMWSSB, RTA, medical and health, etc. will be present at the joint command control centre to monitor the procession from the Telangana State Police Integrated Command Control Centre. The police have identified 18 critical junctions along the procession route.

In Hyderabad commissionerate limits alone, 25,694 police personnel and 125 platoons are deployed. The entire main route and tributaries are covered by CCTV cameras and various roads in the city which are part of the procession will either remain closed for regular traffic or see traffic diversions, he said.
Rachakonda police commissioner DS Chauhan said elaborate arrangments with all precautions have been made for the final day of idols immersion. He added that 7,000 policemen along with 228 police pickets have been arranged and 56 water bodies are ready with cranes for the immersion of idols. A police constable and a home guard will accompany each of the bigger idols and the procession is being monitored through 3,600 CCTV cameras. Mobile toilets, medical teams, and ambulances are also arranged, he added.
In Cyberabad, police commissioner Stephen Ravindra said police are working with officials of all departments in tandem to ensure a peaceful celebration. Along with visible policing and monitoring the processions through around 3,000 CCTV cameras, special attention is being paid to distress calls on Dial 100, he added.
