A global private equity funds based in Europe has invested Rs 70 crores in India in Ivy Hospital as equity funds. This company,popularly known as DEG,is a subsidiary of the 2nd largest European Bank KFW,which is owned by the Government of Germany. It is the 1st investment by DEG in any healthcare company in India. The company zeroed in on Ivy after considering some other hospitals finding Ivy hospitals at Mohali,Khanna and Nawanshahr as their final choice due to their honest and ethical medical practices and for their commitment to give the patients the best in health care that is affordable,accessible and high quality. Gurtej Singh,CEO of Ivy hospitals while speaking to media persons at press conference said that with this investment Ivy will set up more hospitals in north India including Bathinda,Amritsar,Hoshiarpur,Simla,Karnal and embark on a multiphase expansion and will make treatment accessible at local level. Currently there are three operational hospitals at Mohali,Khanna and Nawanshahr. Ivy has emerged as a leading super specialty hospital in the region in a short span of 5 years. The 25 specialty department Ivy Hospital is providing treatment to more than one lack patients every year,besides it is also one of the very few hospitals in the entire region that have achieved the most coveted distinction among healthcare providers NABH accreditation. This is the highest seal of quality certification for hospitals in India and now with DEG investment in Ivy,Ivy aims to take specialty care to the doorstep of patients by setting up hospitals in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities of North India. CEO Singh also informed that global investors in the past have chosen to invest in other parts of the country but it is for the first time that Punjab Health Care domain is chosen and landscape of healthcare of Punjab will be changed due to global investment. According to him Ivy always believes in bringing modern infrastructure in the hospitals and highly qualified doctors to manage the same as there is a huge shortage of specialty hospitals in this region and Ivy aims to plug this gap by creating additional 1000 beds soon. Gurtej Singh said that this expansion is expected to create new health care jobs,from doctors and nurses to pharmacists and administrative staff. He said that Ivy is committed to pay back to the society also by providing free medical services like free medical check-up camps,organizing awareness talk at various other locations,arranging for free consultation and medicine distribution camps and creating awareness about health and wellness.
