Rushikesh Patel, who is also the spokesperson of the state government, made the remarks while interacting with reporters after the weekly meeting of the cabinet of ministers.

The state government has completed studying the report of Justice (retired) K S Jhaveri Commission on fixing OBC reservation in the election of local bodies and its recommendations will be soon accepted, Gujarat Minister of Law and Justice Rushikesh Patel said on Wednesday.
Rushikesh Patel, who is also the spokesperson of the state government, made the remarks while interacting with reporters after the weekly meeting of the cabinet of ministers.
Replying to a question on Congress targeting the government over inaction on the report of the Jhaveri Commission, Patel said, “We have received the recommendations (of the commission). Its study has also been done. And in a short time, you will be able to see acceptance of the recommendations.”
The state government has formed a committee of ministers, Patel said, which will make recommendations on the report. The committee is headed by Rushikesh Patel and has three other ministers as members – Kunvarji Bavaliya, Jagdish Panchal, and Bachubhai Khabad.
The Jhaveri Commission was appointed by the Gujarat government in July 2022 to make recommendations to the state government to fix the reservation quota in the election of local bodies. It had submitted its report to the state government in April.
