Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday inaugurated the Matpur-Brahmanwada Lift Irrigation Scheme at a function in Unjha of Mehsana district. Launched at a total cost of Rs 67.69 crore, the scheme will provide irrigation to 3,705 acres of land in 18 villages of Mehsana and Patan districts.
An official release stated that a 14.70 km-long pipeline will lift Narmada water for irrigation of farms in Unjha, Visnagar, and Patan talukas of the region.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Patel said that “the government has always been with farmers and will continue to do so in the future as well’. He also underlined the state government has decided to provide electricity for agricultural purposes so that the farmers do not have to suffer owing to the rain deficit in August. If necessary, he added, water will be released in canals for irrigation purposes.
The CM also virtually inaugurated the newly built building of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Town Hall in Unjha.
