Hardik Patel urges Union minister G Kishan Reddy to restore Munsar Lake in Gujarat’s Viramgam

The letter, which Patel shared on social media, read, “The lake is more than 1,000 years old and was built by Minal Devi, mother of Maharaja Jayasimha Siddharaja. The lake is surrounded by carved stones and has more than 300 mini temple shrines.”

Patel added that during Diwali, the temples are decorated with diyas which gives the lake a stunning look. However, he added, the lake and most of the surrounding temples are in a bad condition due to lack of maintenance.

“This lake was built during (the year) 1090…is a good example of Hindu culture and if developed to the next level, can reflect our heritage in a proper manner…Unfortunately, it is today a rather seldom-visited place,” Patel’s letter further read.

He also expressed willingness to appoint a team from his end to help the Union minister learn more about the lake and its importance. He also mentioned that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a pracharak, he used to regularly visit the lake and that it was very dear to him.
