(Image source: X/@CMOGuj) On the second day of his tour of Japan to promote the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel took a bullet train from Tokyo to visit the Yokohama city on Monday.
Posting a video of him travelling in a bullet train from his handle on X, Patel wrote, “With the work on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project, inspired by Japnese technology and standards, going on in full speed, here we are traveling to Yokohama from Tokyo by Bullet Train today.”
In Yokohama, Patel also visited the famous Sankeien garden, along with a delegation that he is heading. He had traditional Japanese tea, said a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.
Later, Patel held a meeting with the Governor of Tokyo, Yuriko Koike, while inviting her to Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, scheduled between January 10 and 12, next year.
About his meeting with the Tokyo Governor, Patel posted, “Discussed with her the opportunities of cooperation between Japan and Gujarat in the field of smart cities and sustainable urban development. Also recalled the memories of hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi’s first visit to Japan in 2007 as the then chief minister of Gujarat and how that visit scaled up bilateral ties between Japan and Gujarat.”
Patel further informed Koike that as a result of business ties between Gujarat and Japan, more than 350 Japanese companies are functional in Gujarat. The CM also felicitated Koike.
During the Day, Patel and his delegation met the president of Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Susumu Kataoka. They held discussions with on strengthening the long-standing partnership between JETRO and Gujarat and about opportunities of investments in sectors such as semiconductors, green technology, medical devices, bulk drugs, textiles and ceamics, among others, the statement said.
Patel expressed happiness over JETRO having opened a business support centre in Ahmedabad, it added.
The CM, meanwhile, held meetings with representatives of various trade organisations and financial institutions. As part of these meetings, he met the chairman and governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Tadashi Maeda and Hayashi Nobumitsu, respectively.
