In a major reshuffle of IPS officers, the state government on Thursday ordered 70 transfers with Ahmedabad and Vadodara getting new police commissioners. Gyanendra Singh Malik, Gujarat cadre IPS officer of the 1993 batch, has been appointed as the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner in a significant move. Meanwhile, Anupam Singh Gahlaut, a 1997-batch officer of the Gujarat cadre, has been appointed as the new Vadodara Police Commissioner. A notification with regard to the transfers was issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Mukesh Puri. While Malik is currently on central deputation as the Additional Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force, Gahlaut is the Additional Director General of Police, CID (Intelligence). The post of Ahmedabad Police Commissioner was vacant for a long time and Prem Vir Singh, the 2005 batch officer and Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ahmedabad city, had been holding the additional charge of the key post. Shamsher Singh, an IPS officer of the 1991 batch, who is serving as the Vadodara Police Commissioner presently has been appointed as the Director General of Police (Law & Order) in Gujarat. With the transfer of Gahlaut as the Vadodara Police Commissioner, R B Brahmbhatt who is presently the Additional Director General of Police, CID 70 IPS officers reshuffled, Ahmedabad, Vadodara get new top cops (Crime & Railways), in Gandhinagar has replaced him for the current post. On the post of Additional Director General of Police, CID (Crime & Railways), Brahmbhatt has been replaced by S Rajkumar Pandia who is currently Additional Director General of Police (Railways), Ahmedabad. Ahmedabad city police have also got new heads for Sector-I and Sector-2. Brajesh Kumar Jha has been appointed as the Joint Commissioner of Police (Sector-2), Ahmedabad city. He is currently the Inspector General of Police (Admin), Gandhinagar. Meanwhile, Chirag Koradia has been appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police (Sector-1), Ahmedabad. Koradia is currently the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Panchmahal-Godhra Range. In another key move, Neeraj Badgujar (2008 batch) has been appointed as the Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ahmedabad city. He has been transferred from his current post of Additional Commissioner of Police (Sector 1), Ahmedabad city. Prem Vir Singh, who was the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) in Ahmedabad city, has been appointed as the Inspector General of Police (Ahmedabad range). V Chandrasekar (2000 batch), the current Inspector General of Ahmedabad range, has been appointed as the Inspector General of Police, Surat range. Another significant appointment has been that of the Inspector General of Police (Gandhinagar range). Abhay Chudasama (of 1999 batch) has been appointed as Principal of the State Police Academy, Karai, Gandhinagar. In Gandhinagar range, Chudasama has been replaced by Virendrasingh Yadav (2009 batch) who is currently the Commandant, Metro Security-1, Ahmedabad. The Gandhinagar district has got a new Superintendent of Police with the appointment of Vasamsetti Ravi Teja (2015). Vasamsetti is currently the Superintendent of Police of Junagadh district. Vasamsetti has replaced Tarun Kumar Duggal to take charge of the post as the latter has been transferred as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 7) Ahmedabad city. The present Superintendent of Police (Bharuch), Leena Patil, has been transferred to Vadodara city as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3). Mayur Chavda, Superintendent of Police, Intelligence, Gandhinagar, has been appointed as Bharuch district's Superintendent of Police. The Surendranagar district has also got a new Superintendent of Police. G A Pandya (2011 batch) has replaced Haresh Dudhat, the current district SP. Currently, Pandya is the Superintendent of Police, Anti-Economic Offences Cell, CID (Crime), Gandhinagar. Dudhat has been appointed as Superintendent of Police, Intelligence, Gandhinagar. Porbandar district's Superintendent of Police Ravi Mohan Saini (2014 batch) has been transferred to Ahmedabad city as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 6). In Porbandar, Saini has been replaced by Bhagirathsinh Jadeja, who is currently the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 6), Ahmedabad city. Shaifali Barwal (2016 batch) has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police of the Aravalli-Modasa district. Barwal is currently the Superintendent of Police, State Traffic Branch in Gandhinagar. Valsad district's Superintendent of Police Rajdeepsinh Jhala has been transferred to Dahod as the district's SP. The Chhota Udepur district has also got a new district Superintendent of Police with Imtiyaz Shaikh, who is currently Marine Task Force Commander, Porbandar, taking up the post.
