The fifth cut-off list for undergraduate admissions in Delhi University saw as many as 13 of 60 colleges closing admissions for all courses on Monday,while others have kept admissions open for up to four courses.
Surprisingly,a few North Campus colleges as well as top South Campus colleges had seats available for B Com and Economics Honours courses.
While B Com (H) was open for general category students in nine colleges,seats were available for Economics (H) in three colleges. After closing admissions for B Com (H) with the third list,Hindu College re-opened admissions for the course with the cut-off at 95.75-98.75 per cent. Other courses at the college like History (H) and Economics (H) were open only for OBC students.
At Kirori Mal College too,B Com (H) and Economics (H) courses were open for general category even as the college closed admissions to these courses for OBC students.
At Sri Venkateswara College,for general category students,seats were available in five courses: B Com (H),BA (Programme),B Com (Programme),B Sc (Biological Science) and Hindi (H).
Among science courses,Physics (H) was available at Ramjas College at a 91 per cent cut-off and Chemistry (H) at Hindu College was only open for OBC category students at 91.66 per cent.
Language courses continue to be available in many colleges. Sanskrit is available at 12 colleges. Zakir Husain College has closed admissions to Urdu and Arabic,two languages which usually find few takers.
For OBC students,Lady Shri Ram is one of the few colleges to have closed admissions for all its courses. Colleges like Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Bharti,on the other hand,will be admitting OBC students in all their courses in the fifth list.
Among North Campus colleges,Kirori Mal,Ramjas and Hansraj had seats available in more than eight courses. Hindu College will be admitting OBC students to B Com (H) at 91-94 per cent and Economics (H) at 89.75-91.75 per cent.
Off-campus colleges like Shaheed Bhagat Singh,however,did not have many OBC seats left. Principal of the college,Dr P K Khurana,said,While only 7 to 9 OBC seats are left in the evening college for B Com (H) and Geography (H),the morning college has 3 to 4 seats in English (H) and B Com (Programme).
Sri Venkateswara College had to reduced cut-offs for OBC category by almost 2 per cent in the fifth list to fill its seats.
Spokesperson Dr Rao said,OBC seats are vacant because most colleges decide the cut-offs for this category on the basis of the general category cut-off percentage. Thus,at Sri Venkateswara,only 166 of 296 OBC seats have been filled so far.
