A 60-year-old woman fell off a moving low-floor bus and was run over by it, allegedly due to negligence by the driver and conductor, in central Delhi’s Darya Ganj on Thursday. Police said the woman’s foot had to be amputated.
Based on her complaint, police have registered a case against the bus driver and conductor and are probing the matter.

According to police, the woman, Bismillah, had come to Lok Nayak Hospital on Thursday to meet a relative and was waiting at the Delhi Gate bus stop to board a bus towards Seelampur. “None of the buses that came by were heading to the area. Finally, a low-floor bus stopped and the woman got in. She then asked the conductor if it would be going towards Seelampur, but he said it was taking a different route,” a police officer said.

The woman alleged that the conductor asked her to deboard the moving bus and did not ask the driver to stop. As she was trying to get down, she fell on the road. The bus ran over her, injuring her foot. She was rushed to a hospital by the driver, where doctors amputated her foot, police said.
