Woman raped by fiance in Rishikesh, assaulted by his friends: Police

Police said the alleged incident took place last week while the arrests were made on Friday.

“A woman had registered an FIR that her daughter was physically assaulted,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ghaziabad, Rajesh Kumar.

Kumar said that the medical examination of the woman was conducted and her statements were recorded before the court.

“The woman said in the court that her fiance took her to Rishikesh where he allegedly raped her in a hotel room. Next morning, while returning, her fiance called three of his friends who, on reaching Ghaziabad, physically assaulted her. All the four men have been arrested,” said the DCP. Police registered an FIR against the four men, all residents of Ghaziabad, under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 309(4) (robbery), 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt), 74 (assault or use of criminal force) and 87 (kidnapping).

The victim’s mother told police that on August 21, around 5pm, the woman’s fiance took her to Rishikesh. “She took away her phone and when my daughter asked him to return the device, he broke it. He later physically assaulted her. On August 22, the fiance, joined by his three other friends, assaulted her and dumped her near a petrol pump in Ghaziabad,” the mother stated in the FIR.
