Woman hangs self in Gr Noida,kin allege murder

A 27-year-old woman was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her Greater Noida home late on Monday night. Family members of the woman have alleged that her husband and his relatives were harassing her for dowry. Police said prima facie,it seemed to be a case of suicide and the cause of death would be determined after the post-mortem report arrives.

A senior police officer said the woman,who hails from Kannauj,married in 2012. “She used to work at a college in Greater Noida,but she resigned in January. The family has alleged that ever since her marriage,her husband,his brother and his sister were harassing her for dowry and were demanding a car,” a senior officer said.

According to the family’s complaint,she called one of her brothers in Agra late on Monday night and told him that there had been another fight. “She asked him to come to their home in Greater Noida. However,when he went there,he was told that she had hanged herself from the ceiling fan. She was declared dead on arrival,” a senior officer said.
