A woman allegedly hanged herself in East Delhi’s Krishnanagar area on Sunday morning. Her husband and his family found her hanging. Police said they have begun a magisterial inquiry. The woman’s family alleged her in-laws were harassing her. According to police, Suniksha was found hanging in her room around 11 am. Her husband found the door to her room locked. He told police that he knocked it repeatedly, but got no answer. He then broke open the door and found Suniksha hanging. Police said her husband and his parents rushed Suniksha to hospital, where she was declared brought dead. The hospital informed police. When Suniksha’s family, who live in Sonia Vihar, were informed, they alleged that her husband and his parents had been harassing her for a long time. Suniksha’s uncle Ashok said, “Naresh informed us about Suniksha’s death only after she was taken to hospital. He neither informed police nor did he inform us about how she died. We doubt she hanged herself. We suspect she was murdered. Her body bears visible wounds and we noticed injury marks on her neck. Their marriage was on the rocks and her in-laws used to pick on Suniksha.” Suniksha was married to Naresh for the last four years. They have a two-year-old son. Naresh works for a private company. “The body has been sent for postmortem. Since she died within seven years of marriage, a magisterial inquiry has been ordered,” a police officer said.
