A 23-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped in a moving car by five persons, including two BTech students, in East Delhi’s Ghazipur area on Tuesday night. Police said the men allegedly offered her a ride home and raped her. All five have been arrested. The arrested were identified as Manish, Bintu, Vikram, Shailesh and Rishi — all residents of Ghazipur. According to police, the woman stays with her parents in Lajpat Nagar area of Sahibabad and works at a private firm in Delhi. [related-post] “The woman was waiting for a bus to return home on Tuesday night. A car stopped near her and the occupants offered her a lift. She initially refused, but since no auto-rickshaw or bus came her way, she accepted the ride,” an officer said. The woman in her complaint said once in the car, the men started misbehaving with her and gangraped her. After raping her, the men dumped her in Ghazipur. But the woman made a call to the police control room. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where a medical examination confirmed rape, police said. “The woman gave us the registration number of the car. A case was registered and we arrested the men,” the officer said.
