After announcing a reward of Rs 1 lakh on each of the 12 Indian Mujahideen men wanted for the Delhi blasts,the Special Cell of Delhi Police has procured arrest warrant against two of them,who hail from Azamgarh.
Ariz Khan alias Junaid and Shahzad Ahmad alias Pappu had allegedly escaped from the Batla House during the September 19 encounter.
Nine of the most wanted IM men belong to Azamgarh and one of them Hakim has been arrested so far. He was caught by the UP Anti-Terror Squad in Lucknow on January 2.
The arrest warrants were served and pasted outside the homes of Ariz and Shahzad on Wednesday.
The Delhi Police PRO Rajan Bhagat said that a Special Cell team has procured the arrest warrant from an Azamgarh court against Ariz and Shahzad. The investigating officer will go for a property attachment order against the two if they are not arrested within the stipulated 30 days of the issuance of warrant, he said.
The Delhi Police also informed the ATS about the warrants.
An ATS officer,who has been on the lookout for the absconding youths,said Ariz (23),a resident of Mohalla Baz Bahadur,Kote Kila Road and Shahzad (20) of Rehman Manzil,Sadar City,were recruited in the IM by Atif.
Atif was killed in the Batla House encounter.
The two had left Azamgarh in the first week of September on the pretext of seeking admission in a Delhi-based computer institute.
The Special Cell has collected evidence against Ariz and Shahzad for their involvement in palanting timers at Gaffar market in Karol Bagh,Barakhamba Road and Regal Cinema on September 13.
