Wanted in robbery cases,two held in North Delhi

The two had allegedly fired at policemen in Seemapuri recently and they had been on the run for many years.

A “suitcase robber” and his associate were arrested from Kashmere Gate Metro station in North Delhi,police said on Monday. The two had allegedly fired at policemen in Seemapuri recently and they had been on the run for many years.

According to police,Nazim and Nadeem alias Tousif were arrested after police received a tip-off. Nazim is an accused in several cases in Bijnaur,Uttar Pradesh.

“After fleeing from Bijnaur,Nazim formed a gang in Delhi. Posing as passengers,they used to board TSR vehicles from railways stations and ISBT and rob people. That had earned Nazim the nickname — suitcase robber. Nazim was also declared a proclaimed offender in 2007,” Additional Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Ajay Chaudhary said.

Nazim and Nadeem,Chaudhary said,were involved in several cases of theft,burglary,robbery and assault on police.

During questioning,Nadeem reportedly told police that he was involved in 22 criminal cases including theft,Arms Act,NDPS Act and the duo were preparing for another robbery.

“The two used to target businessmen. They would follow their target to the bus. They would rob the target when the bus reached a deserted stretch and escape,” Chaudhary said.
