Two days after the violence in Nuh district of Haryana, which resulted in the deaths of at least four civilians and two security personnel, Hindu outfits Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Hindu Yuva Vahini staged protest in different parts of Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad on Wednesday.

While raising slogans such as “Jai Shree Ram”, “Har Har Mahadev”, “Vande Mataram”, the members of the organisation alleged that Hindus were being frequently targeted in Mewat region, which Nuh falls under, of Haryana.

After VHP’s call, around 50 people gathered at Badarpur toll in Delhi around 12 pm to protest against the Nuh violence. The volunteers blocked the national highway for a brief period, causing traffic congestion.

More than 60 policemen were present at the spot even as the activities at the protest site were also monitored with a drone.

Delhi Police said they didn’t receive any request from the Bajrang Dal for the protests. However, taking suo motu cognizance of the protests, they sent forces at the spots where the demonstrations were held on Wednesday. No action was taken against the protesters at the time of going to press.

Praveen Babbar, Hindu Yuva Vahini spokesperson, said, “We do not need permission. A letter is being sent to commissioner officer to intimate him about our protest. That is sufficient. We have gathered here to seek justice for our brothers and sisters and action against the culprits.”

He further said, “Our people had gone to Nalhar to offer water in the temple, but they were attacked and looted…Is this justice? We have come here to protest peacefully. Our demand is that the houses of the culprits should be bulldozed and they should be sent to jail at the earliest.”

At Subhash Nagar, a group of 20-30 Bajrang Dal members gathered and raised slogans. Police said they were soon dispersed. At Dwarka Mor, a group of 50-70 men gathered and protested for an hour. Officials said the men were asked to only hold protest at Dwarka Mor, and not conduct a rally. Bajrang Dal members also staged protest at Saraswati Vihar, GTB Nagar and Nirman Vihar in the capital.
