UP girl who resisted rape moved to AIIMS for surgery

A 14-Year-Old Dalit girl,who was stabbed in her eyes while resisting a rape attempt,was referred to AIIMS for corrective surgery from the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College in Kanpur on Wednesday.

A 14-Year-Old Dalit girl,who was stabbed in her eyes while resisting a rape attempt,was referred to AIIMS for corrective surgery from the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College in Kanpur on Wednesday.

The minor was brought to AIIMS with complete loss of vision in her left eye and partial vision in her right eye. She was blinded by two youths after she tried to resist rape in Kannauj on June 18. The girl has been admitted to the RP Centre for Opthalmic Sciences at AIIMS.

According to a relative of the victim who accompanied her,We brought her to AIIMS around 10.30 am. Two doctors accompanied us from Kanpur.

Anand Swaroop,principal of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Medical College,said,Despite an emergency surgery,the cornea of the patients left eye was completely damaged. She has already been operated twice in Kanpur.

Kuldeep (18) and Niranjan Yadav (17) attempted to rape the girl in Gadwa Buzurg village in Gursahaiganj,Kannauj,on June 18.

When she raised the alarm,the duo attacked her with knives,piercing her left eye and badly damaging the other.
