Sashi and Bablu suffered severe burn injuries and were promptly taken to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital by ambulance. The attending doctor there declared them dead on arrival.

A similar incident took place in the Ghonda area of North East Delhi two days ago, when fire erupted at an e-rickshaw charging station. Four fire tenders were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the flames, according to officials. However, no injuries or casualties were reported.

On May 25, a similar incident killed two teenagers in Delhi’s Shahdara area. Four others were injured in the fire that broke out in an e-rickshaw charging facility cum godown. All six victims were sugarcane juice vendors who used e-rickshaws to move around and sell their products. A short circuit in one of the charging components led to a fire in the structure, which was also used as a godown for storing sugarcane machines, said officials.

On May 19, another e-rickshaw fire in Shahdara’s Vishvas Nagar area injured six people, including two children. The fire broke out after a short circuit sparked off a fire on the ground floor of a building. The six injured in the fire, members of the same family who lived in a room adjacent to where the e-rickshaw was charging, were rushed to Hegdewar Hospital for treatment.
