Over 46 witnesses, 50 CCTVs in the jail, four improvised weapons and around two dozen stab wounds on the victim – the Delhi Police Special Cell filed a chargesheet against two inmates for allegedly planning and stabbing gangster Prince Tewatia inside Delhi's Tihar Jail. On April 14, Tewatia, a gangster with over 16 criminal cases including murder and extortion, was stabbed almost two dozen times inside jail number 3. Tewatia and his associate Bobby allegedly got into an altercation with rival criminals Attaur Rehman and Vinay Singh inside their ward. The fight turned violent and the accused allegedly stabbed Tewatia multiple times, police had said. He tried to run towards the jail warder's office and was near the gate but the accused allegedly managed to catch hold of him and stab him, police added. The police chargesheet mentions that the entire incident took less than three minutes. More than 25 undertrial prisoners saw the men fighting and stabbing each other over “supremacy” in the jail, the chargesheet alleges. The Special Cell said they filed a 252-page chargesheet detailing the sequence of events. “Nearly two days before the incident, Tewatia's associate Govind (a jailed gangster) got into a fight with Rehman. We also found that Rehman and Tewatia were once friends as they worked with the Rohit Chaudhary gang. However, Tewatia later left the gang and joined Lawrence Bishnoi. He also led his own gang. He suspected Rehman was betraying him to stay close to the Chaudhary gang” claimed an investigating officer. According to the chargesheet, the witnesses stated that they saw Tewatia fighting with Rehman but when the accused allegedly picked up knives, Tewatia tried escaping and was near the gate but the accused stabbed him. Rehman and Vinay also suffered injuries, said police. The chargesheet cites a detailed description of the CCTV footage recovered from the jail. Police said over 50 CCTVs, from different sites and dates, were scanned to ascertain the sequence of events. “The video footage shows Tewatia being stabbed. The other prisoners gathered around and didn’t intervene. Tewatia is also seen near the gate. We think he was trying to get to the jail warden's office which is right near the gate but again the accused caught him. Also, a large number of prisoners surrounded the accused. Nobody could see anything,” added the officer. The police mentioned how a jail officer came in time and “controlled” the situation. The chargesheet mentions details of the weapons seized by the police.
