The DCP said: “Two of the three accused have been arrested.”
The arrested men are Kapil Choudhary (25) and Sohail (22). “Kapil was arrested in 2021 for attempted murder and then again in 2022 for another stabbing incident. A stolen mobile phone and a blood-stained knife have been recovered from him. He got out of jail around three months ago,” an officer said.
Sohail does not have a criminal background. He was found with a blood-stained knife, added police.
With regard to the motive, police said the men were drinking and decided to commit robbery. “They were carrying huge knives which they had bought recently from Ballimaran. They stabbed three persons but managed to rob only one, who eventually died of injuries. All three are ruffians of the area and two have a criminal record,” Tirkey said.
